4-day course Oil Products

Get to know the oil industry and its main products

Get to know the oil industry. Learn how oil products such as gasoline and diesel are made and what their properties are. Experience for yourself to blend products to specification and test the quality. This intensive course provides the necessary knowledge and provides insight into the complex field of the most important oil products.

Up-to-date and directly applicable in daily work

The extensive practical part in the laboratory turns out to be an indispensable part to get a feel for crude oil and crude oil products in a short time. The course therefore consists of 50% theory and lectures and 50% on making and testing various oil products in the laboratory. At the end of the course, the participant has blended and tested gasoline and fuel oil himself and investigated the quality of gas oil/diesel.

  • Introduction, in which the necessary knowledge of crude oil chemistry is also taught
  • The refinery processes, treated insofar as they affect the properties of the products (e.g. the difference between 'straight-run' and cracked products
  • Characteristics and specifications of gasoline and biogasoline components
  • Properties and specifications of kerosene and gas oil and biodiesel
  • Properties and specifications of residual fuel oil

Practical/laboratory part

The practical/laboratory part of the course program includes the following topics:

  • Analysis of crude oil
  • Blending and analysis on gasoline
  • Blending and analysis on fuel oil
  • Determining the properties of gas oil/diesel
  • Demonstration of a crude and high-vacuum distillation and biodiesel

The participants receive an extensive course book and a laboratory manual. Even after the course, this book is a valuable reference work. At the end of the course, participants receive a Certificate. The group size is limited to 8 participants.
