1-day online course Gas oil blending

Participants involved in blending gas oil/diesel

This course is specifically intended for staff who have to deal with the blending of gas oil and diesel, as well as the purchase, quality control, storage and transshipment and sale of gas oil/ diesel fuel. Initially, this course is intended as a follow-up to the 4-day (or 2-day online) Oil Products course, but people who have sufficient background in this course can also participate, for example gained through work experience.

Gas oil blending components and the blending process

The blending and blending process of gas oil and diesel products is very important from various points of view, but mainly due to economic and environmental aspects. Examples include the EU standards for gas oil/diesel, which therefore serve as a starting point for blenders and the blending process. This means that there is a shift towards optimal and economical blending, given the various specification requirements of a (bio)gas oil and diesel product.

Knowledge and understanding of the components and additives of gas oil/diesel

Gaining knowledge and insight into the components and additives of gas oil and diesel fuel and the associated blending aspects from a technical, economic or environmental perspective. With the knowledge and insights obtained, the participant can make the right decisions regarding the selection of components and respond to 'quality give-aways', which in turn can help to save costs.

Course content

The online course programme covers the following topics:

  • Overview of the production of (bio)gas oil components and their chemical background
  • Naming the components for gas oil/diesel blending and their properties
  • Gas oil and diesel for non-road transport and diesel engines
  • Composition of gas oil and diesel and the selection of blending components
  • Interpretation and discussion on (bio)gas oil and diesel oil specifications (EN590/EN14214)
  • Gas oil/diesel blend calculations
  • Gas oil/diesel blending installations, storage of gas oil/diesel
