1-day course Gasoline blending

Persons involved in gasoline blending

This course is specifically intended for those persons or staff dealing with blending, purchasing, quality control, storage and transshipment or sale of motor gasoline. Initially, this course is designed as a follow-up to the 4-day Oil Products course, but persons who have sufficient background in this course can also participate, for example gained through work experience.

Gasoline blending components and the blending process

The gasoline blending components and the blending process are important data for the final production of a suitable automotive gasoline. On this day we will discuss the technical and economic aspects of blending in relation to the international specifications. Thorough knowledge of the gasoline components and the blending process is crucial for a blender. However, due to the complexity of gasoline and its components, an overview of all aspects is necessary.

Knowledge and understanding of the components and additives of automotive gasoline

Gaining knowledge and insight into the components and additives of gasoline from a technical and economic perspective is the starting point for this course. With this knowledge and insights, the participant can make the right decisions about the selection of components and respond to 'quality give-aways', which in turn can help to save costs.

Theoretical part

This course has only a theoretical part and covers the following topics:

  • Overview of the production of the gasoline components and their chemical background
  • Identifying the (bio)components for gasoline blending and their properties
  • Gasoline for the car engine
  • Composition of gasoline and the selection of blending components
  • Interpretation of and discussion of gasoline specifications (EN/ASTM/RBOB)
  • Gasoline blend calculations
  • Gasoline blending installations, storage of gasoline
  • Gasoline additives and additivation
