Crude oils: did you know…. that a figure of approx. 5,000 is normally quoted as the number of different crudes? Crude oil quality can be vastly different in Density (High/Low), Sulphur content (Sour/Sweet) and chemical composition (Hydrocarbon ratio). 

Crude oil can also contain small amounts of hydrocarbons containing hydroxy (-OH) groups, metals (e.g. Vanadium/Nickel), halogen groups (Fluor, Bromine and/or Chlorine). Other impurities are for example salts, water and sand/sediments.
